Water? or Water

By: Dr. Paul Mach, DN

To quote the famous lyricist Jim Croce, “There never seems to be enough time to do the things you want to do once you find them.” So it is with life, so it is with newspaper space. Please allow me to continue my dissertation on water, its necessity and how indeed water consumption is the most important thing you can do to effect your health destiny.

As a patient of mine said today, “if I would have known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.” Health seems to be the talk around the nation now-a-days. People are trying all sorts of things to cure their ills and to make them younger, healthier, more energetic, and to free from all sorts of symptoms, aches and pains. Water is the imperative first step.

Water is the most essential nutrient. Adults are between 55%-70% H2O. If we had transparent fronts and could look inside ourselves we would be startled at the intricate workings that are occurring within. You would be flabbergasted. You would see the soft moist pink flesh of your lungs inhaling oxygen and exhaling the waste, CO2. (Your lungs would only be pink and healthy if you are a non-smoker. We won’t talk about how poisonous and toxic smoking is because that is not the topic here and besides you already know it is the most toxic, poisonous, suicidal thing you can do to your body). This oxygen is then channeled to the heart via pulmonary circulation, where it is ready to start phase two of its journey, systemic circulation.

In systemic circulation you would see the heart receiving blood (95%H2O) by intricate channels from billions of body cells and pumping it out, refreshed and oxygenated (pulmonary circulation) ready to bathe and nourish your interstitial tissues. Red blood cells carry oxygen and nutrients and remove CO2 and other intracellular wastes. You would see this network of your arteries, veins and capillaries carry this oxygenated blood through your whole system. This oxygenated blood is what gives you life and energy. No blood to the brain and we call this a stroke. No blood to the heart and we call this a heart attack. You simply must have this internal nourishing bath for all your cells, every moment of every day. When you are functioning with enough water your red blood cells are separated and able to do their oxygenating duties, and intercellular trash collecting. When dehydrated RBC’s clump together. This is called erythrocyte aggregation or rouleaux. This leads to problems occurring in two areas. 1. By not having the surface volume necessary to oxygenate and nourish your system you end up with problems ranging from fatigue, hormonal imbalance, headaches and migraines, and weakened immune systems. Studies now show that cancer thrives in an unoxygenated environment. Viagra and coumadin were designed with circulatory problems in mind. If blood cells are not separated they do not flow, where they should, and to where it you may want them to flow. Your first line of defense should always be to hydrate the body. 2. The second problem that occurs when you have “blood sludge” is that you can’t get waste products out of the cellular tissues. This toxic build up leads to an array of problems ranging from, arteriosclerosis, arthritis, UTI infections, muscle cramping and fatigue, PMS, obesity, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and toxin accumulation which contributes to cancer. Simply, too much garbage and no way to remove the toxic exposure with which we are bombarded on a daily basis contribute to dis-ease.

Metabolic activities depend upon your blood to transport enzymes, coenzymes, trace minerals and other substances that are present in minute quantities. The concern is that contaminants and toxic chemicals are introduced into our body through our drinking water and can interfere with these normal metabolic activities and enzymatic pathways. We can understand this interference better when we consider that these vital elements may be present in quantities of a few thousand ions or molecules, whereas, just one swallow of tap water containing one part per million of a toxic chemical will contain six hundred quadrillion (600,000,000,000,000) toxic molecules.

Another interesting area you may want to view inside yourself is your digestive system. The main purpose for food consumption is not just enjoyment, but to give you nutrients, energy, and vitality. Your stomach acid and the ability for your body to move digested food from the mouth out of the body in twenty-four hours is dependent upon your body’s hydration. Lack of water in your system causes constipation as your body struggles to remove moisture from it’s fecal matter to nourish the rest of your organs. T his wastewater is reabsorbed out of necessity. This is not a good thing. Think about it.

You would also see your body’s largest internal organ, your liver. This amazing organ performs thousands of functions. It needs pure water to perform these miraculous processes. Besides being your body’s main filter, metabolizes cholesterol, protein and glucose, digests fats, regulates hormones, and is involved with a multitude of other processes. Water is necessary to keep this gland that is involved with so many bodily processes clean and functioning. We all know what a plugged pipe looks like. Water is what the body uses to keep your pipes clean and to allow the waste residue to be eliminated. Body deterioration, dysgenesis, and death, are predominantly caused by waste poisons not being eliminated from the body. The legendary Dr. Alexis Carrel made heart tissue apparently immortal, in a petri dish, by giving it nourishment and regularly washing away the wastes of the cells. Clean cells equal infinite life and energy.

As our little looking glass tour of the body ends we realize that water is directly involved in every process that is occurs in our body. Respiration, digestion, assimilation, metabolism, hormonal regulation, elimination, waste removal, and temperature regulation can only be accomplished in the presence of water. Water also keeps the pressure, acidity and composition of all chemical reactions in equilibrium. Even the cartilage in the discs in our back, the joints in our knees, wrists and hands and the muscle flexion and contraction that let you turn the pages of this paper are dependent on water. Water in our cells responding to electrical conductivity allows muscles to respond to our page turning commands and our eyes to focus in order to read.

DRINK DISTILLED WATER
Drink distilled water - not your tap water or your well water. There is the fallacy of drinking water for the minerals it contains. Essential minerals are not derived from the water we drink. The best source of minerals for the body is from the food we eat-not the water we drink. Plants have the unique ability to convert inorganic minerals absorbed from the soil and water into organic forms our body can use. Our body can use few if any minerals contained in well water. These minerals hinder the water from performing its natural functions.

The average person drinks about a gallon of fluids (not water) per day, if you add up the cups of coffee, tea, soda, and other beverages. At one gallon a day, the inorganic mineral intake that the average person drinks in a lifetime is approximately 450 glasses of solids. These are the same solids found in your humidifier, and teakettle and that ruin your tub, toilet and clothes. What does the body do with all these foreign materials? It tries to eliminate them. They can build a film up throughout the body, the intestines, the joints, the arteries, the organs, the veins etc.

As I wrote last time the other imperative reason to drink pure distilled water is because of the more than 13,000 chemicals on the market today (500 new ones are being added yearly). Regardless of where you live, in the city or on the farm, these chemicals are getting into your tap or ground water. No one knows what the accumulative effect these have, as they are synergistically blended into thousands of different combinations. There is not even equipment to test for some of these chemicals, and as illustrated in my last article many are allowed in at “acceptable levels”. Every year the United States over 70 billion gallons of hazardous waste are generated and “dumped”. Much of this waste winds up seeping through the soil into both surface and ground water. Some water is contaminated due to specific, identifiable sources such as industrial or municipal waste pipes, chemical leaks or spills, and household drains. Contaminated water can also be the result of diffuse, hard to pinpoint sources such as pesticide and herbicide agricultural run off, livestock waste, deposits of contaminated soil in rivers after a storm, or road top run off from film, salts, and motor oils. One quart of motor oil can contaminate a million gallons of water. More contaminants are then added from water pipes that leach lead, vinyl chloride, asbestos, cadmium, copper, and iron in toxic amounts.

We do not know from day to day just what pollutants and insoluble minerals exist in our tap or ground water. There is only one sure way to be sure that you are getting pure water to nourish and keep your body functioning. It is the same water you put in your car battery so it won’t corrode and the same water you put in you iron so it won’t plug up and scale, and that is distilled water.

This is the most important health information you will ever receive (besides what we gained as children and which was to look twice before crossing the street, and to not step in front of moving vehicles). Be sure to drink plenty of distilled water daily. Water consumption should be equal to your weight divided by two, which gives you the appropriate ounces of water to consume daily. If you wait till you’re thirsty you are already dehydrated.

The preservation of health is a duty.
Few seem conscious that there is
such a thing as physical mortality.
